Automotive exhaust turbocharger for small piston engine has clutch in coolant pump linking gas turbocharger and mechanical charger

An automotive engine is operated in joint conjunction with an exhaust gas turbocharger and a mechanical charger. The engine crankshaft and mechanical charger are linked by a centrifugal clutch which engages in proportion to the crankshaft speed, engaging and disengaging the drive between the crankshaft and mechanical charger. The clutch is esp. associated with a coolant pump with two pulley wheels. The first pulley wheel (1) is linked by a belt to the crankshaft. The second pulley wheel (2) is linked by a belt to the charger drive shaft. The pump housing (3) has a bolt (8) extending inside and supporting the centrifugal masses (7) between the two pulleys (1, 2).
