The invention relates to a cable reel (1) with which it is possible to divert the braking pulse onto a housing by using elastic elements (9, 10) used for mounting the cable reel (1) inside the housing, whereby converting the braking energy into heat. The inventive cable reel (1) is, in particular, also suited for reel bodies (2) that hold long cable lengths.
