The catheter (10) is assembled of an inner shaft (12), the at first deflated balloon (14) clinging to the outer surface of the inner shaft (12) and the stent enveloping the balloon (14). When the arrangement has reached is destination the balloon (14) is inflated with a fluid in order to create the required shape of the stent. The inner shaft (12) is provided with a pattern of ribs (20) positioned along its outer surface, facilitating a regular distribution of the fluid and a symmetrical inflation of the balloon (14).
