In an electric power steering apparatus <bold>10</highlight>, when a steering torque rotates a pinion <bold>30</highlight>, a rack shaft <bold>12 </highlight>having a rack to engage with the pinion is axially moved. At this time, a ball screw nut <bold>36 </highlight>engaging with a screw groove <bold>34 </highlight>of the rack shaft <bold>12 </highlight>through plural balls <bold>68 </highlight>is rotated by an electric motor <bold>24 </highlight>so that the axial movement of the rack shaft <bold>12 </highlight>is assisted. Each of the pinion and a bearing supporting the ball screw nut <bold>36 </highlight>is positioned at a place corresponding to minimum amplitude of a free vibration of the rack shaft to restrain a transfer of the vibration of the rack shaft to the vehicle body.
