A PLANAR OVER-RUNNING CLUTCH AND METHOD

A planar type of over-running clutch including first and second confronting plates (15, 16) is disclosed herein. The second plate (16) itself includes movable struts (17) and associated biasing mechanisms (19) for cooperative engagement with cooperating shoulder members of the first plate (15) under certain circumstances. An arrangement (20) forming part of said second plate and cooperating with each strut and biasing mechanism of said second plate is provided for preventing the struts from moving to certain biased first positions when said second plate rotates in a particular way.
