The conditioning unit for rail-bound vehicles consists of a ventilation system and a vapor cycle cooling system with energy matching of the conditioning unit to the energy requirement of the vehicle by means of RPM variation of the compressor and if necessary of the fan. The RPM variation is carried out by switched reluctance drive motors, the motor controller of which is supplied with power directly from the DC conducting busbar. The busbar may not conduct DC, whereby an additional rectifier produces the DC for the motor controllers.
