PURPOSE:To prevent the flow of a brazing filler metal into a restricting passage of a thin plate forming member obtd. by brazing even if the brazing filler metal is much by coating a flow controlling material for the brazing filler metal as a pretreating material for brazing in the part for forming the above-mentioned restricting passage or near the same. CONSTITUTION:A discharge muffler 6 mounted to the end face of a cylinder 5 of a compressor part 3 of a hermetic type compressor 1 is formed in the following manner: The muffler 6 is constituted of the 1st thin sheet forming member 6a formed with an inlet hole 7 by press blanking of a steel sheet, the 2nd thin sheet forming member 6b formed with the 1st and 2nd recesses 8, 9 and the 3rd recess 10 communicating the two recesses 8, 9 by drawing and an outlet pipe 11 brazed to the recess 9 side of the member 6b. After the flow controlling material 13 is coated on the surface 12 of the member 6a facing the recess 10 of the member 6b, the members 6a, 6b are superposed and the outside circumferential edges of the two members 6a, 6b are brazed to form the 1st and 2nd silencing chambers 14, 15 and the restricting passage 16. As a result, the inflow of the brazing filler metal into the passage 16 is prevented and the passage 16 is maintained wide. The muffler device which provides satisfactorily the capacity of the compressor is thus obtd.
