A channel machined into the piston ring (6) is formed by bore (10) and groove (10b) and acts as secondary offtake and between ring (6) and radial groove (4b) a chamber (8) is formed which is linked to the piston ring (6). The bore (10a) is in the wall of the ring as against the groove (10b) which runs along the outside of the ring (6) which in turn has double lip seals. A guide ring (7) forms the boundary of the groove (10b) and sits axial to the ring gap (3). Preferred use of the cylinder system is for floor-riding plant.
