A first arithmetic unit (AU) (5) calculates a flotation angle value by numerical integration. A second AU (6) determines a flotation angle value by solving a linear differential equation. A third AU (7) merges the flotation angle value (betanl) with the calculated flotation angle value (betalin) to form an assessed value. The AUs can be run as separate modules or as a unified module. An Independent claim is also included for a device for determining an assessed value of a flotation angle in motor vehicles to be measured indirectly.
