PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain satisfactory torque transmission between each shaft by suppressing falling down of a holding arm while eliminating unevenness in the direction of right angle of shaft in each member transmitting torque in the axial direction between different shafts. SOLUTION: A steering controller for a vehicle is provided with an output shaft 14 for steering a steered wheel, a slider 15 arranged slidably for the output shaft 14, a rotation conversion mechanism 16 for converting slide movement of the slider 15 into rotation movement of the output shaft 14, and a drive mechanism 18 for sliding and controlling the slider 15. The drive mechanism 18 is composed of a rotation motor M, a linear conversion mechanism 34 for converting rotation movement of the rotation motor M into linear movement, the holding arm 35 driven linearly by the linear conversion mechanism 34 to hold the slider 15 so as to turn freely, and a linear guide 36 for guiding the holding arm 34 in parallel with an axis of the slider 15.
