PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard sugar coated preparation having a hard sugar coating layer using, as raw material, a sugar/sugar alcohol and an oxidized starch and/or an acid-treated starch wherein the sugar coating layer is hardly broken and can be formed at a low waste ratio of a sugar coating solution. SOLUTION: The preparation has the hard sugar coating layer which comprises the sugar/sugar alcohol selected from a group consisting of maltitol, xylitol, erythritol, mannitol, lactitol, Palatinit (R), trehalose and sucrose together with the oxidized starch and/or the acid-treated starch.
