PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load detector for a cargo handling vehicle, and the cargo handling vehicle, manufacturable at a low cost and capable of determining load in consideration of the loaded position of a work to a fork. SOLUTION: A fork lift truck 1 having a fork 2 constituted to be tiltable around a base end part O, and a tilt cylinder 4 for tilting the fork 2, is provided with the load detector 14 having a pressure sensor 12 for measuring the pressure P of a fluid which supplies driving force to the tilt cylinder 4, and a controller 13 for outputting overload signals Aa, Ab when the pressure P of the fluid measured by the pressure sensor 12 is larger than a prescribed pressure, Pmax.
