PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device which can easily, effectively, and evenly fill a column with a filler material. SOLUTION: The device 1 and the method are used to fill a column 20 with a filler material (T). The column 20 has a filling opening and a suction opening at the both ends thereof, and is supported with a supporting device 12. The column 20 can be inserted into a tank 11 containing the filler material T using the supporting device 12. The column 20 is connected with a negative pressure source 14 through a connecting line 13. By generating a negative pressure in the column 20, the filler material T is evenly sucked in the column 20. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
