In a dispenser of discs such as coins or tokens, the discs are fed by rotating discs 4, 6 from a bowl 3 of a hopper 1 up a passageway p in aligned guides 7 and 8. The hopper assembly 1 and lower guide 7 can be detached from the upper guide 8 and a holding device 13 is provided to prevent coins from falling from the passageway in the upper guide 8 when the lower guide 7 is removed.. The holding device 13 has a ball which moves down an inclined surface to press against the lowermost disc. A tool may be used to disengage the ball if it is necessary to allow the discs to drop from the passageway in the guide 8.
