PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply, quickly and quantitatively determining an oil portion in soil. SOLUTION: In the method for quantitatively determining the oil portion in the soil, (1) the oil portion existing in the soil is extracted by using a solvent, (2) the soil existing in the extraction solvent is separated, (3) an absorption spectrum of the extraction solvent is measured by using an infrared spectrophotometer in a range of a wave number of 2800 to 3050 cm<SP>-1</SP>, and a concentration of the oil portion in the soil is found on the basis of the obtained absorption spectrum.
