PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine which positively burning HC, CO, smoke or the like remaining in a combustion chamber due to a quenching phenomenon or the like. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine is provided with an air injecting means for injecting air into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, and an air injection control means for controlling the air injecting means.
