PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controlling method for a flow control valve for quickening starting of a valve opening action and prolong an actual valve body movement time in a valve opening operation time for improvement in reliability of flow control. SOLUTION: In this controlling method for the flow control valve 1, a pressure of compressed air fed to a pilot chamber 55 is regulated at the same time when the valve opening action is started, and an electropneumatic regulator part 31 is operated so that an air pressure inside the pilot chamber 55 becomes a stationary limit pressure equivalent to an air pressure just before a shift of a piston 22 against energizing force of return springs 20 and 21. Subsequently, the air pressure of the pilot chamber 55 is increased, and the electropneumatic regulator part 31 is operated so that the air pressure becomes a predetermined air pressure for bringing the piston 22 to a valve opening stationary position desired in a desired valve opening operation time.
