<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus yielding higher image quality by reducing erroneous detection by a registration sensor and appropriately correcting color slurring by accurately informing a user of the life of the transfer belt associated with the flaw of the surface of a transfer belt and the progress of staining. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a pattern forming means for forming a toner image pattern for controlling on the transfer belt, a detection means for reading the toner image pattern, a correction control means for correcting setting concerning the setting of image formation on the basis of the read toner image pattern, an information storage means for storing detection information obtained on the basis of an detection signal in a memory tag, and a transfer belt life informing means for informing the user of the life of the transfer belt on the basis of the detection information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
