PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of obtaining an ideal lens barrel in which a distance adjusting ring is not rotated in autofocus actuation while distance adjustment is performed by the manual operation of the distance adjusting ring at optional time by an easy and space-saving mechanism regardless of a lens driving system or the length of a lens. SOLUTION: The lens barrel is provided with an automatic adjusting barrel moving and rotating around the optical axis of the lens with respect to a distance adjusting barrel which performs focusing by moving in parallel with the optical axis of the lens so as to move the distance adjusting barrel; and a driving ring rotatable around the optical axis. The lens barrel is constituted so that the automatic adjusting barrel and the driving ring are ordinarily in a locked state but the relative position of the automatic adjusting barrel to the driving ring can be varied while releasing the locked state according to a manual force signal obtained from a direct manual barrel by the rotation of an indirect manual barrel.
