PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quinone derivative having excellent solubility in organic solvents and compatibility with resin binders to be used, and further having excellent light sensitivity, and to provide an organic photosensitive material for electrophotography containing the quinone derivative, having high light sensitivity and low residual potential, and consequently capable of stably forming such a picture image for a long period that is of high density, free from fogging in its texture, and clear. SOLUTION: This quinone derivative is expressed by general formula (1) (R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each H or a 1-4C alkyl, and are identical to or different from each other; R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each a 1-8C alkyl, an aryl or an alkoxy, and are identical to or different from each other; Z<SP>1</SP>s are each a divalent organic residue having at least an aromatic ring and a conjugated double bond in the inside thereof, and are identical to or different from each other; m and n are each 0 or an integer of 1 to 3; and k is 0 or 1).
