<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of purifying a polyarylene sulfide, where the polyarylene sulfide having high quality is stably obtained, and a purifying apparatus therefor. <P>SOLUTION: A method of purifying in the polyarylene sulfide comprising washing the polyarylene sulfide with a washing solution, separating a polymer phase 8 containing the polyarylene sulfide from a solvent phase 9 containing the washing solution, measuring viscosity of the polymer phase 8 or a difference in density between the polymer phase 8 and the solvent phase 9, detecting a solvent surface 10 of the polymer phase 8 and taking out the polymer phase 8. Since the viscosity of the polymer phase 8 or a difference in density between the polymer phase 8 and the solvent phase 9 each is measured at a liquid contact part 11 by an oscillating process viscometer 7 or remote seal type differential pressure transmitter composed by stainless steel, a hastelloy alloy and Ti or a Ti alloy, the solvent surface 10 of the polymer phase 8 can be accurately detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
