<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the drive of a generator such that breakage or slipping is prevented from occurring over a power transmission member. <P>SOLUTION: When there is no fear of a battery effecting over discharge when a demand power in a low rotation high torque region to an engine is generated, a generation power limit value Pstlim is calculated from the number Ne of revolutions of an engine (S220). When a target generating power st is higher than a generating power limit value Pstlim, a target generating power Pst decreased by a given generation power limit amount θ is set (S225 and S230). Generating torque Yst* is calculated by using the set target generating power Pst (S240), drive of a starter MG is controlled (S250).
