PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium-base alloy wire having excellent strength and toughness, its manufacturing method, and a spring using the magnesium-base alloy wire. SOLUTION: The magnesium-base alloy wire has a composition containing, by mass, 0.1 to 12.0% Al and 0.1 to 1.0% Mn and has the following characteristics: a diameter d of 0.1 to 10.0 mm; a length L of≥1,000 d; a tensile strength of≥250 MPa; a reduction of area of≥15%; and an elongation of≥6%. Such a wire can be obtained by performing drawing at≥50°C working temperature or carrying out heating to 100 to 300°C after the drawing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
