PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that reduces running cost by preventing an increase in toner consumption which results from the supply of toner serving as a lubricant agent. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises: image forming parts Pa, Pb, Pc and Pd which form toner images on corresponding photosensitive drum; photosensitive drum cleaners 4a, 4b, 4c and 4d which remove and recover toners on the corresponding photosensitive drums after the toner images are transferred to a recording material P; a transfer belt 24 which holds and carries the recording material P on the surface thereof; a transfer belt cleaner 8 which removes and recovers the toners sticking to the transfer belt 24; and a toner supply device 5 which supplies the toners onto the transfer belt 24. The toners removed and recovered by the photosensitive drum cleaners 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4d or the transfer belt cleaner 8 are supplied to the transfer belt 24 by the toner supply device 5.
