PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic component for olefin polymerization capable of obtaining in high yield a high-molecular weight and high-melting olefin polymer moldable by extrusion or injection, to provide an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising the catalytic component, to provide a method for producing an olefin polymer, and to provide a transition metal compound as the catalytic component. SOLUTION: The catalytic component for olefin polymerization consists of the transition metal compound of general formula (I). The olefin polymerization catalyst comprises said catalytic component.
