An organic electroluminescent device includes a first substrate, a second substrate 130 facing and spaced apart from the first substrate 110, the first and second substrates 110,130 each having a pixel region including a plurality of sub-pixel regions, a plurality of array elements on an inner surface of the first substrate 107, the plurality of array elements include a switching element within each of the plurality of sub-pixel regions, a first electrode 132 of a transparent conductive material on an inner surface of the second substrate 130, an organic electroluminescent layer 134 on the first electrode 132, a second electrode 136 on the organic electroluminescent layer 134 within each of the plurality of sub-pixel regions, a seal pattern 140 along a peripheral portion between the first substrate 110 and the second substrate 130, and a connection pattern 112 electrically interconnecting the switching element and the second electrode 136 within each of the plurality of sub-pixel regions. |
