<p>Process for the Production of Ethane and/or Ethylene from Methane and Device for its Completion Process and device for the production of ethane and/or ethylene by a heterogeneous catalytic reaction of methane and oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas using a catalyst suitable for the formation of C2-hydrocarbons at increased temperatures, characterized in that in continous operation a mixture of methane and oxygen is reacted at temperatures between 500 and 900.degree.C and at oxygen partial pressures of <0.5 bar at the reactor entrance, wherein the ratio of the methane partial pressure to the oxygen partial pressure is >1. The conversion reaction takes place with or without gas recycling in a reactor with a catalyst solid bed or by the use of a fluidized bed of fluidized catalyst particles, or in a cross-flow reactor with distributed input of oxygen. There are also disclosed catalysts for the use in the process according to the invention as well as a process for preparing the same and a method for neutralizing acidic properties of the catalyst or carrier materials.</p> |
