RETARDATION FILM, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CELLULOSE ESTER FILM, POLARIZING PLATE, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retardation film with excellent transparency and moisture and heat resistance, to provide a liquid crystal display of an excellent VA mode or TN mode having an enlarged viewing angle, and to provide a polarizing plate with which the effect of enlarging a viewing angle can be obtained without increasing the number of optical films.

SOLUTION: The retardation film comprises a cellulose ester film having 40 to 200 μm thickness and containing cellulose ester having ≥2.50 and <2.71 substitution degree of acetyl groups and 1 to 30 parts by mass of a plasticizer with respect to 100 parts by mass of the cellulose ester. The film has 20 to 70 nm retardation (Ro) in the plane direction of the film and ≥90 nm and <200 nm retardation (Rt) in the thickness direction.
