<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical filter having a plurality of transmission wavelength ranges and featuring that the filter can be easily manufactured with high reproducibility, and to provide a surface light source device using the filter. <P>SOLUTION: The optical filter 2 is formed by superposing at least two or more band pass filters 21, 22 having different reflection wavelength ranges. The surface light source device 10 comprises a surface light source 1 which emits planar light having a plurality of peak wavelengths, and the optical filter 2.
