PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil composition containing much silt component and clay component, penetrating water easily even in a soil containing less organic content, without having a shortage in an amount of air and preferable for the growth of a plant. SOLUTION: This soil composition contains (A) a soil having 50-98 wt.% total of the silt and clay and≤2 wt.% organic content, and (B) a water- absorbing resin obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer containing one or two or more of polymerizable monomers selected from a group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid, a (meth)acrylic acid salt and (meth)acrylamide, as essential monomers and cross-linking, and having 10-500 g/g water absorption rate for deionized water.
