PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-strength martensitic stainless steel material having excellent formability and rust resistance. SOLUTION: By controlling the transformation temperature of Mo-containing medium-carbon martensitic stainless steel material and wire rod, tempering or full annealing treatment is performed in theα+γ+K23C6 coexistence phase of 750 to 850°C to regulate Hv hardness to≤220 and improve the manufacture efficiency of screws and nails. Moreover, by carrying out quench-and-temper treatment after screw thread and nail cutting, product hardness is made to≥500 Hv. Accordingly, the steel material having superior formability and high hardness and rust resistance can be manufactured. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
