PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a degradation in optical performance of a lens, which affects an entire system with the lens in a lens barrel regardless of the generation of a certain degree of thickness error of the lens. SOLUTION: A centering device has a thickness error extent detection means 13 for detecting the extent of thickness error of a lens G7 and a reception part centering extent control means 14 for controlling the extent of centering of a reception part G8a of the lens G8 in accordance with the detected extent of thickness error so as to offset the spherical aberration of an entire optical system, which is caused by the extent of thickness error of the lens G7.
