The spindle assembly (1) has a housing (2) for a hollow spindle tube (8) to receive a spindle (13) which is held by a lock with an actuator (18,24) and a locking head (12). The housing opposite the spindle tube has an inner recess (4) to receive the lock head. The actuator is positioned between the outer face of the spindle tube and the locking head.
