CAMERA TO WHICH DIGITAL BACK IS ATTACHABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of performing an optimum range-finding operation when a back cover is exchanged for a digital back.

SOLUTION: The camera is provided with a multipoint range-finding part 54 for outputting range-finding information being the result of the detection of a distance to a subject for every several range-finding areas; a focus control part 40 for controlling the focus position of a lens 44 based on the range-finding information outputted by the range-finding part 54; and a reception part 46 for receiving size information concerning the size of the light receiving surface of the imaging device of an electronic image pickup device from the digital back. The control part 40 changes algorithm for controlling the adjustment of the focus position of the lens based on the size information received by the reception part 46.
