PURPOSE:To cool a rotor directly and to improve the cooling, by a method wherein the rotor of a generator of a piping built-in type power generating apparatus is made hollow, and the hollow portion is filled with a working liquid and made a rotary heat pipe. CONSTITUTION:Heat generated by a rotor 9 is conducted to a rotary shaft 20, and when a working oil 17 filled in a hollow portion 16 of the rotary shaft 20 is evaporated the conducted heat is taken as latent heat of evaporation. The evaporated working oil 17 is transferred by the pressure difference to shaft end side being a cool portion, and radiates heat through a cooling fin 18 to steam or gas flowing through outside of the cooling fin 18 and is con densed. The condensed working liquid 17 is circulated by centrifugal force to a heat radiating portion 20a of the heat pipe being a hot portion. According to repetition of the above-mentioned operation, the rotor 9 is cooled and tempera ture of the rotary shaft 20 becomes uniform by property of the heat pipe, and problem of vibration due to heat imbalance is solved.
