PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a runaway prevention device at high oil temperatures of a control unit for an automatic transmission that does not give a sense of incongruity to a driver even if an ATCU power line is disconnected in traveling at a high shift speed. SOLUTION: In this device, when a detected temperature is a set temperature or higher, the device uses a shift command output means for outputting a shift command shifting to a predetermined shift level and a shift end determination means for determining whether the shift by the command is ended, and a temperature monitor means stops the function of the control unit for the automatic transmission completely, when the detected temperature is the set temperature or higher and the shift is determined to be ended by the shift end determination means.
