PURPOSE:To improve the profile control characteristic of a magnetic head due to the operation of a tracking control system of closed loop, by constituting a device so that the magnetic head, and a reproducing stylus are displaced in a reverse direction with each other, setting the base part of a supporting member for them as a rotational center, and the change of positions are performed on the same recording locus of a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The displacements of a magnetic head H and a reproducing stylus S generated by the surface shaking of a magnetic recording medium disk D, are reversed with each other, however, even when the positions of the magnetic head H, and the reproducing stylus S are changed from the positions shown as continuous lines in figure to dotted lines, the change are performed on the same recording locus in the magnetic recording medium disk D. There fore, in the titled recording and reproducing device in this invention, the dislocation of a track is not generated even when the magnetic head H and the reproducing stylus S are displaced from the positions of the continuous lines shown in figure to the dotted lines shown in figure by the surface shaking of the magnetic recording medium disk D. In this way, the profile control for the magnetic head H can be performed well by the operation of the tracking control system of closed loop based on a bit of tracking control information repro duced by the reproducing stylus S.
