PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent visible defects from occurring due to an insufficient characteristic of transition from spray alignment to bend alignment in the peripheral part of the display area in a liquid crystal display device of a bend alignment system, and to shorten a rising time of the liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: Dummy electrodes are arranged in the peripheral part of the display area, and an electrode proximity part is provided between the outermost peripheral pixel electrodes and the dummy electrodes, or the electrode proximity part is provided between individual dummy electrodes, or the dummy electrodes are provided with a notch. When operating transition, field distortion parts are formed with these parts, and transition performance in the outermost peripheral pixels in the display area or in the peripheral part in the display area is improved.
