PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of evaluation and test which is high in reproducibility of conditions and high in reliability in evaluating the difficulty in flawing of a spectacle lens and an apparatus for the same. SOLUTION: The lens 1 is fixed to a chuck 2 and an abrading tool 3 with an abrading object 11 fixed thereto is perpendicularly installed to the convex face of the lens 1. The abrading tool 3 is held by a supporting member 4 and is made freely movable in a vertical direction. The apparatus for evaluation and test is designed to press the abrading object 11 by a specified force to the lens 1 by placing an arbitrary weight 5 onto the abrading tool 3 and to rub the surface of the lens 1 with the abrading object 11 by moving the chuck 2 in this state. If such apparatus is used, the respective conditions are high in the reproducibility and the reliability of the results is high even if the relative evaluation is performed. The simultaneous evaluation of a plurality of the lenses is made possible and the shortening of the time for evaluation is made possible by using the apparatus for evaluation and test having a plurality of the same mechanisms.
