PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve defective ink affinity of the front edge part of an image region in the direction of progress of processing in a method for developing a printing plate in which a photographically formed silver halide image is applied as lipophilicity and ink acceptability. SOLUTION: In a method for making a planographic printing plate in which an undeveloped silver halide image region of a planographic printing plate precursor having a silver halide emulsion layer is selectively made lipophilic and ink-acceptable, processing is carried out in the presence of a compound having a mercapto group and a hydrophilic group.
