PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyimide composition forming a coated film having a uniform thickness because of no whitening, gelation, or the like, caused when a polyimide film is formed on a substrate and having even excellent preservation stability and resultantly realizing the coated film having excellent voltage stability. SOLUTION: This polyimide composition is obtained by diluting a solvent- soluble polyimide prepared by subjecting an acid dianhydride and an aromatic diamine to a thermal reaction in the presence of a lactonic polymerization catalyst and carrying out a direct imidation with an organic solvent system. Furthermore, the organic solvent system contains at least≥40 wt.% of N- vinyl-2-pyrrolidone. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
