PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition constituting a rubber member arranged adjacent to a rubber for covering a steel cord, having improved processability, while keeping adhesive properties. SOLUTION: The rubber composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of a sulfur- vulcanizable diene based rubber containing 20-100 pts.wt. of a natural rubber, 20-100 pts.wt. of the total of carbon black and/or silica and 1-20 pts.wt. of at least one kind of a sulfur based extreme pressure additive selected from the group consisting of a polythiohydrocarbon, a polythiofatty acid, a polythiofatty acid ester and polythio-fats and oils.
