<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar code reader which is advantageous to secure a wide readable range for bar codes. <P>SOLUTION: An optical scanning means 13 is provided with a revolving shaft 1404 having a reflection face 1406 which reflects exit light emitted through an aperture 18 to a bar code through a housing opening part 1204 and a motor 14 for rotating the revolving shaft 1404. The exit light emitted from the aperture 18 is radiated to the reflection face 1406 while having the optical axis of the optical path aligned with the center axis of the revolving shaft 1404. The exit light is reflected by the reflection face 1406 inclined at about 45° to the center axis and then is converted a light beam having the optical path inclined at about 90° to the center axis. The light beam reflected and deflected by the reflection face 1406 is repeatedly deflected and scans 360° around the center axis of the revolving shaft 1404 by rotating the revolving shaft 1404. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
