PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original conveying apparatus which makes the picture quality of a read image high by improving the contact of an original with original platen glass. SOLUTION: A press roller is provided outside a maximum original size. A read part of an image reader is provided with an original abutting member, a position where an original is set by the original conveying apparatus is set inside the original abutting part, and the press roller is arranged inside the original abutting part and outside the original. Consequently, waving and flotation of a conveyor belt are suppressed. Further, the press roller serves as a conveyor roller to simply constitute the apparatus. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
