PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering sensible heat of a coke oven dry distillation gas with improving efficiency of heat recovery. SOLUTION: Limestone 7 filled in a riser 1 is burned with the dry distillation gas and generated CO<SB>2</SB>is brought to react with H<SB>2</SB>in the gas and reduced to CO. The sensible heat of the coke oven gas is recovered by chemical energy of the limestone 7 and CO<SB>2</SB>. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
