PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the floor utilizing efficiency of a guard rail to be placed around a shelf. SOLUTION: The guard rail 10 to be placed on a floor around the shelf 1 set on the floor comprises rail materials 12 to be placed on the floor between supporting columns 4a of the shelf 1 and connecting members 13 for connecting the rail materials 12 at the positions of the supporting columns 4a of the shelf 1. The connecting members 13 planarly U-shaped are externally fitted at their outsides to the lower ends of the supporting columns 4a of the shelf 1 and supported on the rail materials 12 with the joint to the rail materials 12 placed on the floor.
