<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for effectively promoting warming up of exhaust emission control catalyst, while sufficiently holding stability of an engine in cold starting of an engine or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A power train comprises the engine having a catalyst convertor (exhaust emission control catalyst) for purifying exhaust gas and an ISG for applying torque to the engine to perform torque assist. The power train is controlled by a control unit. During idling in a predetermined period after the cold starting, the control unit retards ignition timing (ignition retard) of the engine to a small-combustion-variation region to promote warming up of the exhaust emission control catalyst. At this time, the control unit makes the ISG perform the torque assist for the engine to secure the stability of the engine. When non-idling state is provided, the ignition timing is jumped to the proximity of an MBT beyond a large-combustion-variation region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
