<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for effectively promoting warming-up of an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst while maintaining stability of an engine well, during cold starting of the engine. <P>SOLUTION: A power train is provided with an engine having a catalyst converter (an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst) to purify exhaust gas; an ISG to effect torque assist by applying torque on the engine. In this case, the power train is controlled by a control unit. The control unit promotes warming-up of an exhaust gas purifying catalyst by retarding the ignition timing (ignition retard) of the engine to a combustion fluctuation region during idling in a given period after cold starting. In this case, the control unit causes the ISG to effect torque assist to the engine and secures stability of the engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
