<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining member for a catalytic converter, capable of binding inorganic fiber well without needing any inorganic binder and maintaining the same thickness as a conventional one. <P>SOLUTION: This retaining member for the catalytic converter, consisting of the catalytic carrier, a casing for storing the catalytic carrier, and a retainer which is fitted on the catalytic carrier and provided between the catalytic carrier and the casing, is formed by sewing a mat member integrated with inorganic fiber having a wet volume of 100 cc/5 g or more without using a binder. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
