PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for an internal combustion engine in which an oil ring is sufficiently lubricated, while securing a reducing effect of frictional resistance between a sliding face of a skirt and an inner wall of a cylinder. SOLUTION: The piston 1 for the internal combustion engine slidably provided in the cylinder is provided with a crown 2 with a circumferentially extending oil ring groove 6 for attaching the oil ring formed in a lower end part, and the skirt 3 extending down from the crown 2 and having the sliding face 3a sliding in the cylinder. In the sliding face 3a of the skirt 3, an oil feed groove 10 for leading lubricant into the oil ring groove 6 is extended from a lower end of a sliding face 3a to the oil ring groove 6, and it is formed so that its width becomes narrower as it nears the oil ring groove 6.
